*******************************************************\nDUMMIES eTIPS: Travel & Entertainment\nhttp://etips.dummies.com\n\n*******************************************************\n\nTODAY\'S eTIP(TM): Setting Up a Home Poker Game\n\nA successful ongoing home poker game requires good planning and\nwell-thought-out rules. The key to a good game, of course, is a\nfriendly, fair game that people will want to keep coming back to\non a regular basis.\n\nA good home game has rules established well before the game\nbegins to avoid any controversy. Try to follow the rules that\nnormally apply in card clubs and casinos so as to not confuse\npeople who play in both.\n\nYour rules should encompass answers to at least the following\nquestions:\n\n* Is checkraising allowed?\n\n* How will antes be put up? By each player or only by the\ndealer?\n\n* What is the best low hand? (The great majority of card\nclubs say that A-2-3-4-5 is the best low, even though\nit\'s a straight.)\n\n* If you play a high-low game, how will the parties\ndeclare their hand? (Chips in the hand is the most\ncommon method.)\n\n* In a high-low game, if one person goes both ways, what\nhappens if he ties one way?\n\n* Who splits the pot if a player going both ways wins\nonly one way?\n\n* What constitutes a misdeal?\n\n* What happens if there is a misdeal?\n\n* If the pot is split up between two players, who gets\nany odd chip?\n\nThink about putting your rules on paper. Memories fade as to what\nwas agreed upon, so it\'s helpful to bring out the rules in the\nevent of any controversy.\n\nPoker For Dummies [ http://www.dummies.com/WileyCDA/DummiesTitle/productCd-0764552325.html?cid=etipBookLink ],\nby Richard Harroch and Lou Krieger, is packed with expert tips,\nincluding how to bluff successfully.\n\nRelated Articles\n\nPlaying a Hand of Seven-Card Stud\n[ http://www.dummies.com/WileyCDA/DummiesArticle/id-1002.html?cid=etipArticleLink ]\n\nPlaying National Tournament Chess\n[ http://www.dummies.com/WileyCDA/DummiesArticle/id-991.html?cid=etipArticleLink ]\n\nTalking the Talk in Poker\n[ http://www.dummies.com/WileyCDA/DummiesArticle/id-1558.html?cid=etipArticleLink ]\n\n*******************************************************\n\n*******************************************************\nWIN AN XBOX 360 SYSTEM!\n\nAttention all you big gamers out there! Breaking lines is a great way to keep ugly white spaces from appearing on the right-hand margin. To do so, press Shift + Return or choose Insert, Break and select the Text Wrapping Break option button in the Break dialog box. To erase any line breaks, click the Show/Hide Paragraphs button (it looks like a backwards capital P) and then backspace or delete the line break characters as appropriate.
